SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3)—A long-time Springfield business is taking extra precautions to help prevent what seems like a constant barrage of thefts from its store. These precautions will impact customers. The Greene County Freight and Food Sales store has been part of the Springfield community for 45 years. Owner Nancy Heape took over the business from her parents. However, according to Heape, the store is implementing a no-bag policy to crack down on theft within the store.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A Springfield woman is looking for answers after her car was stolen last month, and police are looking for suspects. This happened on April 25 in the early morning hours, just after midnight, in the 100 block of Main Avenue in Springfield. Krislyn Beard only noticed something was off when she woke up and saw a notification on her phone. “I noticed a charge on my Cash App card for $4.18, which is what I had left to go purchase my meds for that day,” said Beard.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3)—Organizations across Missouri are in a state of uncertainty after state House Republicans decided against voting on a construction bill that would have earmarked millions of dollars. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Missouri State Legislature finalized its budget on Friday. The budget earmarked $30 million for the city of Springfield to use for the new convention center project. The budget bill is now in the governor’s hands, and he could veto any part of it. If the governor approves the $30 million for the city of Springfield, the city would have to match the $30 million to get the project going. It’s been a project that’s been in talks for a long time.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Eight days after a powerful storm hit the Ozarks, people are still cleaning up the vast amount of debris left behind. The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management says more volunteers are needed for storm relief efforts. Throughout the county you’ll find no shortage of downed trees and damaged homes. But at the call center at the Public Safety Center, it’s a different story when it comes to volunteers. The center has 24 computer stations set up with phones.
