RIFLE, Colo. (KREX) — On Wednesday, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol arrested four people suspected of auto theft and recovered multiple stolen vehicles. Officials believe the group has operated in Colorado and Utah for some time and is likely responsible for multiple thefts across both states. A suspect vehicle was identified and located in eastern Utah on Tuesday through coordinated efforts between Colorado and Utah law enforcement.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — On Tuesday, deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a felony menacing incident on the 3000 block of Hill Court. The suspect, 26-year-old Cameron Renteria of Grand Junction, was located at Chipeta Elementary after leaving the initial location of the incident. The school was placed on a precautionary lockdown. Renteria was arrested without incident.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Colorado Mesa football now has an open position at safety. A two-year starter at defensive back, sophomore Jason Thome has entered his name into the transfer portal. An Arvada native and former Ralston Valley Mustang, Thome took home two RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors in his two seasons with the Mavericks. Led by sophomore Kenna Celeyeta and senior Audrey Rhoden the Fruita pushed the pedal all senior night long on Central. Despite some epic saves from Central goalie River Wescott, Fruita hit pay dirt many a time dominating Central 9-0. With the win, Fruita improves to 6-2-2 overall and 4-0-2 in Southwestern League play as Central falls to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in SWL play.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Grand Junction High School baseball is loaded and rolling. With slugger Will Applegate back in the lineup, the Tigers are healthy and hitting their stride. At a hot and sunny Canyon View Park Monday the Tigers’ bats did not let up against the Demons of Glenwood Springs. Tyler Johnson led the way with 5 RBI, Sean Witt added three and Applegate and Zyler Fazzi each totaled two. In all, GJ scored 15 runs, all while not allowing Glenwood to hit home.
Former deputy sentenced to 3 years in prison after death of Christian Glass

DENVER (KDVR) — Former Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office deputy Andrew Buen was sentenced to three years in jail on Monday after being convicted of criminally negligent homicide in the death of 22-year-old Christian Glass in 2022. This sentencing comes after Buen was found guilty of reckless endangerment in the first trial in 2024, but the jury was deadlocked on the charges of second-degree murder and official misconduct.
