A panel of film insiders along with local leaders including Mayor Craig Greenberg said the city and state are committed to this growth. “The film and production industry is not a new industry, but it is relatively new in a big way to our city and state,” Greenberg said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is getting ready to graduate thousands of seniors over the weekend. Some will go to the military, others will begin full-time jobs, and others will go to college. For Southern High School senior Howard Hechevarria, graduation is also a season of firsts. He's the first in his family to graduate high school in the United States and the first to go to college. It's something Hechevarria doesn't take lightly.

He fled after killing 21-year-old Sarah Root in a drunk driving crash. The incident happened nine years ago in Omaha. Mejia, who was driving under the influence, caused the death of the young woman. After the crash, Mejia escaped and remained on the run.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On Tuesday, Holy Family Catholic Church held a mass to pray for Pope Francis as he continues to battle with pneumonia in both lungs. The Pope is in critical condition in Rome, but the Vatican says he's still doing some work. The Archdiocese of Louisville wanted to show their support for the 88-year-old pontiff as they pray for his recovery. With their song sheets in hand, attendees sang to the sound of the church organ and prayed for the father of the Catholic Church.
