HOLLAND, Mich. — There is a new option for birthing patients along the lakeshore, to help ease pain during labor. Holland Hospital's Boven Birth Center now has a labor hydrotherapy tub. It is a deep-soaking tub with the goal of promoting a more positive labor experience. "There's so many physiological benefits of this tub," said Julie Ondersma, certified nurse midwife and family nurse practitioner. "Primarily, that warm water. Submersion helps decrease any tension, relaxes the muscles.

"Frida's Fireworks" is a story about a young girl named Frida, who struggles with her letting her "fireworks" explode. She is sent to a special teacher at school, who introduces her to Scout, a facility dog. Scout teaches Frida how to manage her fireworks using a 1-2-3 breathing method.

BYRON CENTER, Mich. — A new behavioral health hospital will open to patients next week in West Michigan. Southridge Behavioral Hospital cut the ribbon on the new care facility in Byron Center on Wednesday. The hospital is a collaboration between Trinity Health Michigan and Universal Health Services. The hospital has 96 beds for both adult and geriatric patients. When fully operational, there will be about 170 employees, both full and part-time.
