Break out the garden tools, hammock or a lawn chair  – this week is shaping up to be a sunny, warm week in most of the Inland Northwest. The National Weather Service predicts the Spokane area will see temperature highs up to 70 degrees on Tuesday and Friday, with highs in the 60s on Wednesday and Thursday. Those two days are expected to be less warm, with possible precipitation in North Idaho.

Washington State University shut down one of its fraternities last month for hazing, according to WSU’s website . Alpha Sigma Phi  fraternity, 710 NE Linden St., in the school’s Greek Row, will no longer be recognized on campus until May 2030.

The White House is considering an executive order that would overhaul standards for some wildland firefighting efforts, a prospect state officials warn could put firefighters’ lives at risk. The draft order, obtained by POLITICO and reviewed by The Spokesman-Review, aims to loosen regulatory firefighting policies and certifications needed to fight fires. If enacted, it could eliminate a drastic amount of aerial firefighting requirements and inspections.
