A contentious planning bid to move Poundstretcher into a bigger unit at a Fife retail park has finally got the go-ahead after two refusals. The owners of Saltire Retail Park in Glenrothes got the backing of Fife Planning Review body, bringing to end a saga that started in 2023. Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate (UK) planned to shift Poundstretcher out of Unit 2 into the larger base that was previously home to a trampoline centre - paving the way for The Range moving into Glenrothes.

The first steps to reviving a landmark hotel in Kirkcaldy, which has sat empty for almost six years, have been taken. Plans to begin internal alterations to the Royal Hotel in Dysart have been given the green light by Fife Council. New owner Mr Imran Haqqan has secured planning permission for his proposals to bring the once-thriving venue back into use after a chequered few years have seen it fall into disrepair, and been targeted by vandals.

Police have launched an investigation after reports of man seen with a knife near a children’s play area in Burntisland. The alleged incident was reported on Sunday afternoon at the playpark in Rossend Terrace just before 2:00pm. Officers have making inquiries locally.
