(WCBI) – As the Pontotoc Juniorettes Charity Ball was wrapping up, Preston Frazier was hard at work, preparing cotton candy. Preston started Lollipops Cotton Candy a couple of years ago, because of a serious need at the time. “I was like, ‘you know, I want to get some more money,” Preston said. His parents had a cotton candy machine, and before long, Preston was in business.

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A second juvenile is arrested in connection with the videotaped assault of a mentally disabled adult that was posted on social media. Tupelo Police Chief John Quaka says this is the final arrest in connection with the case. On Sunday, April 25, Jeff Strickland, a well-known member of the Tupelo community, was assaulted at Oak Creek Apartments. That assault was videotaped and posted to social media. One juvenile was arrested earlier this week.

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A Tupelo man is in jail after police said he dropped off suspicious packages, containing pills and other items, at homes in one subdivision. 34-year-old Clark Tidwell is charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, transfer of schedule two narcotics, and simple assault on a law enforcement officer. Residents of the Ridgeway Subdivision reported that suspicious packages were dropped off on their porches. The packages contained pills and various items.

(WCBI) – Whenever Gagan Singh and his family wanted an authentic taste from their native India, they had to travel to Memphis. “So we decided, hey, we need to get on this,” Gagan said. Gagan and his Brother Harjit own two convenience stores in Northeast Mississippi. Now, they are poised to open Namaste, Indian Cuisine. “It is a greeting, like hello,” Gagan explained.

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A trail ride and auction set for this weekend in Plantersville will benefit the kids at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Alderman Sextus Shannon and businessman Nate Chism are helping organize the events. Shannon has been organizing fundraisers for the children’s hospital for thirty years. The trail ride will take place first, and people can park their horse trailers on the property where the ride will take place. The auction features items donated from area businesses.
