Edmonton goaltender Stuart Skinner is an Agent of Chaos. Skinner’s Oilers are back in the Stanley Cup Final, and he’s been solid in goal. In the playoffs, Skinner saved 6.5 goals above expected (GSAx) ahead of Game 1, which is fifth in the league. Just don’t ask how he got there. Thanks for reading My Analytics Corner! After a grueling 10-inning game, the Rebels’ first-ever trip to the Women’s College World Series ended Friday night with a loss to 16th-seeded Oregon. Ole Miss battled back from a three-run deficit in the seventh inning to force extra innings, but the Rebels ultimately lost 6-5. Oregon drew a bases-loaded walk in the 10th inning to eliminate the Rebels. Jaden Pone led the game off for Ole Miss by reaching on an error and advanced to third base on a stolen base and then a wild pitch.

Bowen Byram might be on the move again. The Sabres are apparently gauging interest in the 23-year-old left-handed defenseman. Byram is coming off a 38-point season in his first full season in Buffalo while also having a plus-minus of plus-11 on a Sabres squad that didn’t sniff the playoffs. That begs the question of why a struggling team is looking to trade a young defenseman who has flashed some talent.
