SPRINGVILLE - Every summer, teams are tasked with trying to replace their graduating seniors, but Ingomar has an impossible problem this year: trying to fill the endless void left by the graduation of longtime star Macie Phifer. Phifer, who owns the school record for most career points, is off to bigger and better things at Middle Tennessee State now, and Ingomar is trying to get used to life without her.

PONTOTOC – Lyla Cox and Channing Lane led Pontotoc to a state title this past season, but now they leave behind large shoes to fill. Pontotoc will have new, younger faces as it embarks on its title defense. Cox and Lane combined for over 30 points per game last season, and that won’t be easy to replace. kAm“q6EH66? r92??:?8[ {J=2 2?5 t>2C:6 Wq@55:6X[ x E9:?< H6 =@DE 23@FE c_ @C cd A@:?ED A6C 82>6[” !@?E@E@4 9625 4@249 zJ=6 w62C5 D2:5] “%92E’D 8@:?8 E@ 36 @FC :DDF6] (6’G6 8@E E@ =62C?

Landon Harmon had a lot on his shoulders – or his right arm, rather. Harmon was hoping to end his high school career on top after losing in the state championship series last season while having to deal with all of the distractions in the world. Harmon, a Mississippi State signee, saw his future college coach get canned in the middle of the season. Meanwhile, MLB.com’s draft board has Harmon ranked as the No. 47 prospect in this year’s draft. kAmqFE ?@?6 @7 E92E D66>65 E@ 72K6 w2C>@?

BOONEVILLE – Troy (Ala.) has a lot of new faces after last year’s team won the national title, but the winning ways haven’t stopped. The Pontotoc Red Sox struggled at the plate and couldn’t keep Troy off the board in a 10-2 loss to open the MS/AL Legion Border Battle on Friday at The Plex. Troy jumped out to a 7-0 lead, and Pontotoc couldn’t recover. Advertisement“This team only has four guys that return, and it’s a whole new team,” Troy coach Ross Hixon said.
