    Two words: Malai chicken. Tender chicken thighs bathed in an unctuous creamy sauce sizzles and steams in its cast iron pan. So simple yet so rich, the bubbling white curry begs to be scraped from the bottom of the plate so that not a drop is wasted. Vintage Mirchi is a new Indian restaurant at the Kundan Galleria in Hicksville, right around the corner from Apna Bazar supermarket and Mithaas, a Newsday Top 50 restaurant.

    A popular Asian fusion restaurant from Farmingdale has expanded, opening a new location in North Bellmore. And the sushi they're preparing is surprisingly good for the casual takeout setting. Mizu II opened in February in the front cap of a shopping center anchored by Stop & Shop. It's a spinoff of the Mizu restaurant that opened in 2018 on Melville Road in Farmingdale. Owner Frankie Qiu said he's looking to expand with a third restaurant, in Bellmore, that is a sit-down experience with a bar.

    Another staple of the Long Beach boardwalk will not be returning when the summer heats up: Beach Burger, which has been serving grass-fed burgers and hand-cut fries since 2019, has closed, according to an announcement on its Facebook page. Owners Ralph and Stacy Anselmo could not be reached for comment. The poetic Facebook post said the owners have other dreams to pursue and want to spend more time with family and friends. "Yummy burgers, hand-cut fries, mermaid cones and fresh coffee we did brew.

    Some offbeat news from Franklin Square: The Greek restaurant Alpine has undergone a concept change after nearly 40 years. The restaurant is now a brunch diner with a much more literal name, Franklin & Phoebe Brunchery, which refers to the cross streets of the building. The story goes that Greek immigrant Theodore Delis purchased the restaurant Alpine Garden, which was down the street from Plattduetsche Park, in 1986.
