Fire Island ferry riders will soon have a new thrill: Uncle Giuseppe's Italian supermarket is opening a summer pop-up at Ocean Beach. Located on Bayberry Walk, the shop will be within Ocean Beach Trading, joining the Kismet Coffee Company in the multiuse space near the ferry terminal. Opening May 9, Uncle G’s Ocean Beach Popup will offer prepared sandwiches, paninis, salads, grab-and-go dinners, fresh pasta and sauce, antipasto and cheese platters for entertaining, plus BBQ and grocery essentials.

Paper Plate, a smashburger and chicken concept that debuted at Williamsburg’s Smorgasburg food hall in 2022, has closed after a year in Deer Park. It was the shop's first brick and mortar restaurant. Similar to the West Coast’s In-and-Out, Paper Plate was an everyman joint that served burgers with all the fixings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, American cheese, grilled onions and, of course, special sauce on a potato bun.

A portion of Oyster Bay's historic Snouder building reopens today as Provisions Market, an upscale shop with a vast selection of prepared food and imported products. Inspired by the general store that once existed in the village, the shop is designed to be a “well-curated, smaller version of Dean and DeLuca meets Williams-Sonoma,” said co-owner Jesse Schenker, who's launched a string of Oyster Bay restaurants in recent yeas as hospitality partner at Lush Life Group alongside Claudia Taglich.
