WEST BEND — The Washington County Public Safety Committee approved two separate uses of the Washington County Municipal Public Safety Radio Grant program at its meeting on Wednesday for the Slinger and Richfield fire departments. According to the committee report on the item in the meeting’s agenda packet, the county dedicated $500,000 toward the creation of a grant program that would provide assistance in the purchase of radio equipment to county police and fire services.

GERMANTOWN — The Germantown Police Department (GPD) and the Germantown School District are celebrating Archie, the department’s therapy dog, on his first birthday and roughly first anniversary with the department on April 15. According to GPD School Resource Officer (SRO) Toni Olson, even though Archie was still too young to be officially certified as a therapy dog, he has still had a monumental impact during his training period.

WEST BEND — On Friday, roughly 48 students from the West Bend High Schools participated in a group venture out into the community to learn about new potential career opportunities as part of the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce’s All Around the Bend bus tours. According to West Bend Area Chamber Director Toni Gumina, these tours give high school students immersive, behind-the-scenes experience with local companies in different career pathways identified by the West Bend School District.

WEST BEND — The West Bend Police Department (WBPD) recently put out an announcement congratulating Capt. Eric Grinwald on his graduation from the Northwestern School of Police Staff & Command last Friday. According to the announcement, the program is an intensive leadership and management education program helping prepare law enforcement professionals for success in senior command positions. More than 21,500 graduates have completed the training since it began in 1983.
