SAN ANTONIO — Ruby Cortinas has lived at Thompson Place for more than 10 years. She said the apartment AC once kept them cool during the hot Texas summer, but over the last few years it wasn’t able to keep up. By early July, Cortinas was using two additional window units to try and cool the unit down and she said her kids were going to bed with cold towels in order to sleep. “It’s been really, really hot. It hurts me to see them. We can’t even sleep comfortably, you know?” Cortinas said.

SAN ANTONIO — Tierra Snell had her heart set on finding a Chevy Trax after someone ran into her previous vehicle and totaled it. Eventually, she found one at a dealership on the south side of San Antonio and paid for the vehicle in full. Now Snell wishes she had never paid the dealership a dime. “Before I got home the AC stopped working. Anytime I stopped, the car would start shaking really hard,” Snell said.

SAN ANTONIO — Jim Ellis walked out to his driveway in December to find his Kia Sedona's window broken and glass on the pavement. Even worse, the steering column was torn apart and the vehicle was undrivable. The 89-year-old had the vehicle towed to World Car Kia on Fredericksburg Road, where he bought the van, but he couldn't get it back. He said the dealership just couldn't find the parts to fix it and he got the same answer every time he called.

SAN ANTONIO — The Marin family hired Joe Munoz with San Antonio 24 Hour Glass in February. They needed him to replace a cracked glass countertop in their kitchen. The family said Munoz showed up the same day they called and collected their full payment of $1,537. Then, they said, Munoz never came back. Bertha Marin said the contractor did at least answer his phone after he came out the first time but he then missed multiple appointments to actually install the glass.

SAN ANTONIO — Jane Kidder must park her 2013 Kia Sportage away from buildings and other vehicles because there is a possibility it could suddenly catch fire. At least, that’s what the Kia recall notice she received last November said. The notice states, “The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) may experience an electrical short circuit, which can result in an engine compartment fire while driving or parked.” This is inconvenient for Kidder.
