Typhon Martial Arts have had a very successful weekend at the WKO European Championships on May 17 and 18, coming away with six WKO gold medals. Altogether the team came home from the event at the Metrodome in Barnsley with an excellent six gold medals, seven silver medals and five bronze medals. Sarah Dicks achieved gold medals in Ultimate Points Fighter/Hand Only Points and Tag Team as well as silver and bronze medals in Continuous Kickboxing and Boxing.

Whitby Cricket Club’s second and third teams secured victories in their respective North Yorkshire & South Durham Cricket League matches over the weekend, while the first team were edged out by three wickets in a thrilling encounter. The most comfortable win was earned by the 3rds in their Sunday Conference South match at Saltburn 3rds to stay in the promotion hunt.

Hawkes 360 Centre of Development football teams celebrate another amazing season at their annual black tie awards night at the Scarborough Spa Complex. Hawkes 360 held the night to acknowledge the superb achievements of the teams from Under-11s to Under-16s in the 2024-45 Junior Premier League (JPL) campaign. The 360 Centre of Development is a training and games programme, with academy level football coaching, for players that want to play at the elite level.

Steve Janney was the all-round star as Bridlington 2nds powered to a six-wicket at home to fellow YPLN Beckett Division 1 strugglers Fylingdales. Janney snapped up a superb 6-17 as the visitors slipped from 102-2 to 137 all out. Josh (41) and Nat Parker (40) had shared a third-wicket stand of 88 for Dales, but Janney ripped through their batting order. Janney then hammered a brilliant 58 and opener Josh Mainprize 40 as the hosts secured victory with 139-4 in 31.2 overs.

It’s been a week of highs and lows for Scalby Tennis Club, with all three senior teams in action over Wednesday and Thursday - and plenty of drama on court. On Wednesday night, the Ladies A team faced leaders Cherry Burton A in a match that was always going to be a tough ask. But the Scalby trio of pairs—Maaike Karrimans & Magda Phillips, Helen Flinton & Helen Neal, and Mandy Hillier & Sue Adamson – put on a fighting display that left nothing in the tank.
