STAMFORD - Anyone walking onto a city beach will be stopped and asked to show proof of residency Saturday, the first day of a ban on out-of-town visitors. On weekends and holidays, nonresident walk-ins will be turned away by security guards who will staff entry points at Cove Island, Cummings and West beaches, said Kevin Murray, the city’s parks and facilities manager. Two security guards will be posted at each beach Saturday and Sunday, Murray said.
