Some lakes remain relatively unaffected thus far, while others have started to see areas of softer ice and even open water. Safety is always a top concern when hitting the ice, but conditions should be monitored more closely as spring weather arrives. The freeze-thaw cycle in recent weeks can weaken ice, and each body of water goes through this cycle differently.
