10 1/1 A FORGOTTEN Japanese Garden in Otley has been brought to life again in these photographs from the town's museum. The exotic garden, complete with actors and actresses who were paid to roam the grounds dressed in Japanese costumes, was once very popular. But the attraction, which was part of a larger complex financed by philanthropist Henry Dacre, fell out of use and into abandonment.

8 1/1 FOR MORE than a century Otley's railway was of major importance to the town - carrying goods and people to neighbouring communities. But it is now more than half a century since the last train ran and the rails on the route were dismantled. The town's railway station was opened as a joint venture between the North Eastern Railway and the Midland Railway in 1865, and closed in 1965.

BRASSNECK Theatre is planning a real feast of family fun when it presents The Addams Family musical at Yeadon Town Hall next month. The traditional Saturday night slot has been ditched to allow a 5pm show to make it easier for families to attend. "The Addams Family is a fantastic musical and one that all the family can enjoy," a spokesman said. "We have two shows on Saturday, November 14, the first at 1pm and the second at 5pm.
