    BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- The Benton Harbor Area Schools (BHAS) Board of Trustees is considering staff cuts as they work to finalize the budget for the 2025-2026 school year. They are looking to "right-size" the district staff after years of falling enrollment amid schools of choice. "The purpose of rightsizing is to streamline our assets," said Trustee Elnora Gavin. Approximately 30 jobs are on the line ahead of the upcoming school year, because of an estimated $5 million budget shortfall.

    CASSOPOLIS, Mich-- ABC57 has new details on the Cassopolis Police car theft and getaway. The suspect, Andy Freshour, was charged with fleeing police, obstruction, firearm possession, and much more. Freshour has 17 new charges against him, on top of all his prior convictions and charges. Friday in court, Prosecutor Victor Fitz described him as "a violently unpredictable selfish and dangerous meth addict." He also said his priors mean he could face life in prison.

    CASSOPOLIS, Mich.-- The Cass County Prosecutor released the name of the suspect who fled Cassopolis police Wednesday in a stolen police squad car, as well as prior convictions. Andy Freshour has felony charges from 2023 and March this year, including firearm and meth possession. He now sits behind bars at the Cass County Jail. Right now, there's free three-hour parking in New Buffalo's downtown. A local business owner tells ABC57 they've worked hard to make New Buffalo a destination for tourists, but now they fear the paid parking will keep them away.
