    AVONDALE — A Chicago chef has expanded his Avondale catering operation with an adventurous Sunday brunch service that he said may turn into a daily offering in the fall. Chef Mychael Bonner, who opened CMB Catering in 2023 at 2853 N. Kedzie Ave., began offering sit-down brunch on Sundays inside the Avondale spot in February, with a focus on the Afro-Caribbean flavors of his heritage. Called The Tasting Room at CMB, Bonner said the concept has taken off, and he hopes to expand it this fall.

    HUMBOLDT PARK — Humboldt Park’s cultural district is getting a domino social club after the project was approved last week by the City Council. The Pe Erre Domino Club — La Casa del Domino is set to open this summer at 2558 W. Division St. with the goal of highlighting and preserving the game of dominoes, a Puerto Rican cultural tradition, owners said.

    LOGAN SQUARE — A self-guided tour of eight old-school Logan Square taverns and bars aims to encourage locals to support the watering holes and learn about their history. Logan Square Preservation, a neighborhood organization, is launching Pastport, a monthlong, self-paced bar crawl celebrating the rich history of Logan Square’s legendary watering holes. Armitage Ave., is temporarily closed as its license was suspended for failing a health inspection, according to a green city sticker plastered on the front door and a city spokesperson.

    LOGAN SQUARE — A Logan Square school’s after-school science program was abruptly cut last month after losing its grant, blindsiding families and program leaders who worked for years to make it a reality. The Somos Ingenieros/We are Engineers STEM program at McAuliffe Elementary School, 1841 N. Springfield Ave., was a seven-week immersive program for Latino families that launched last year.
