11/12/2024 - The author briefs student divers on upcoming skills during a PADI Open Water Diver course in Monterey, California. Patrick Webster At 8 or 9 years old, a resort instructor took me into the Red Sea on a Discover Scuba Diving experience. I remember 3 feet of visibility and sand rushing around my fogged-up mask. We were only in about 15 feet of water, and I don’t think I saw a single animal on that dive, but I emerged feeling like the world was just the most magical place.

Maybe in a dark parking garage or when gearing up for that first-ever night dive. We generally try to avoid the feeling, but fear can be a powerful driver if we welcome it. People who push the limits of what’s possible are often called fearless.

06/03/2024 - The Reef Rescue Network operates 50 coral nurseries in 14 countries. This nursery, off Nassau, is watched over by an installation titled “Ocean Atlas” by Jason deCaires Taylor.
