PALM COAST, Fla. - Palm Coast city leaders and residents received an update Tuesday on what could become a multimillion-dollar effort to dredge the city's saltwater canals. More than 2,500 homes back up to the canals, which many residents view as a community asset. However, some have expressed concerns about how shallow the waterways have become. "My neighbors, many of them, can't even get their boats off their docks," a resident said during public comment.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Powerful hurricanes can bring a lot of rain in a short amount of time to Central Florida and can cause devastating flooding to certain areas. Tony Hake works in FEMA's Federal Insurance Division and said there is difference between homeowners and flood insurance. "So, homeowners insurance typically does not cover flood. Flood insurance covers the external forces: the rain, the rising water, those types of things coming in," he said. He suggested people to buy flood insurance early.

ORLANDO, Fla. - It was an exciting day for roughly 900 seniors at two Orange County schools. Students at Evans High and Jones High School packed their gymnasiums to get a big announcement. "Every graduating senior from both Evans High School and Jones High School has guaranteed no out-of-pocket cost for tuition and fees at Valencia College," said Dr. Kathleen Plinske, president of Valencia College.

OCALA, Fla. - On the same day that Ocala celebrated its newest Safe Haven Baby Box, News 6 received a heartwarming update about a newborn named Zoey who was rescued from one two years ago this month. In an update from Baby Zoey's mother, she told News 6 that Zoey is "thriving, loved, and absolutely amazing."Zoey's journey began in January 2023 when she was discovered in the Safe Haven Box at Ocala Fire Rescue Station 1- the first and only box in Florida at the time.
