Lawyers for the city of Chicago are recommending settlements in two deaths that happened during police chases five years ago. City lawyers are recommending a total of $2.5 million in settlements to the families of 54-year old Ezell Ricky Island and 40-year old Mignonne Robinson. Island and Robinson were killed three days apart in 2020, when the cars they were in were hit by vehicles being chased by Chicago police for suspected traffic violations.

Spring has arrived in the most Chicago of ways ... The first bird has been rescued after hitting a South Loop window. Chicago Bird Collision Monitors Annette Prince says an American woodcock was spotted Monday after hitting a window around 11th and Wabash in the South Loop, one of about 8,000 dead or injured birds her group will find this year during migration periods.

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Arlington Heights police say residents do not have to worry after someone put up a sign warning of rat poison in their neighborhood. The sign was put up in a neighborhood around Route 14 and Ridge Avenue. It warned there was rat poison and chicken bones scattered in the area, and that people should be careful to protect their dogs when out for a walk.

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A proposal to allow terminally ill people to use medicine to end their lives was the topic of an Illinois Senate committee hearing Friday in Chicago. "I love my life. I don't want to die. I love my family," said Deb Robertson of the western suburbs. Yet, Robertson has a rare terminal cancer and wants to have the option of having doctors prescribe medicine that could end her life when she wants.
