ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - You’ve made it to Brooks Camp at Katmai National Park and Preserve. Now, what? Perhaps you want to take a short hike away from the main camp. One of the most recognizable areas in the entirety of Katmai is Brooks Falls, a small waterfall that serves as a speedbump for salmon -- and a welcome pause for bears to get their paws on fresh lunch. The approximately six-foot-high waterfall bisects the Brooks River, which connects Brooks Lake with Naknek Lake.
