    Elon junior Tabby Spell performed in musical theater most of her adolescent life. Growing up in Mechanicsville — a southern Maryland town of 1,857 people — theater was her outlet. Until it wasn’t. “I had a really interesting theater director who had a lot of favoritism issues, and it really wreaked havoc on my self confidence and the things that I thought I could do,” Spell said. “I really think that's kind of what eroded my love for musical theater.

    In the first week of classes at Elon University, School of Law professor Sara Ochs uploads syllabi for her classes to Moodle. Historically, students have relied on syllabuses for assignments, readings, due dates and more. But with the introduction of coursework technology such as Moodle, where students can check due dates virtually, Ochs said she mostly relies on trusting her students to read the syllabus.

    Matthew Clanton ’18 remembers his reluctance toward singing in elementary school. “Singing’s not cool, that’s for losers,” Clanton recalls his 2007 self saying. But that outlook would soon change for him, all thanks to a solo in a medley of High School Musical songs that the choir performed. His solo was in the movie’s first song, “The Start of Something New,” an ironic choice for the now Los Angeles-based musician.

    It’s been almost three months since a long-standing Calabash seafood restaurant burned down. But soon, it will earn a new life. Kurt Hardee, owner of Ella’s of Calabash confirmed with The Sun News that the North Carolina restaurant will be rebuilt as soon as their insurance company is ready. Hardee hopes rebuilding will start in October or November. Ella’s caught fire in April due to a broiler that flared up, Hardee said.
