    Crews are moving quickly to remove some of the old, tall trees that have been a fixture on the Davis College campus in Johnson City for decades. Workers with CNY Tree Service of Broome County started the process of cutting down dozens of trees on the site south of Riverside Drive on Tuesday. Plans for the Riverside Gardens development call for the creation of 67 modern apartments along with the renovation of five single-family homes on the 16-acre property.

    Plans are being finalized for the removal of a building that's been home to a series of popular restaurants in West Endicott. The Broome County Land Bank acquired the West Main Street property near the En-Joie Golf Club in the town of Union. It most recently was home to Food Fusion Bar and Grill. The building is located just east of the old Red Carpet Inn, which also had been purchased by the Land Bank. The vacant hotel was torn down about a year ago. The Charles F.

Johnson Memorial is being moved to a more prominent spot at Workers Park at Main Street and Lester Avenue. The statue of Harry L. Johnson was dedicated in 1922.     Workers are busy making some repairs atop the dome of the Broome County Courthouse in downtown Binghamton. KB Services of Binghamton was hired to restore a scale that had fallen from the Lady Justice statue several months ago. A section of the lawn in front of the Broome County Courthouse was closed while restoration work was underway on June 3, 2025.
