State champion and 2007 St. Vincent-St. Mary High School graduate Cam Joyce is headed to the West Coast. St. Ignatius announced on its website that Joyce, the school's boys basketball coach the last six year, has accepted a new role as head coach at Loyola High School in Los Angeles. "It's a unique opportunity for me to coach at another Jesuit school," Joyce told the Beacon Journal. "The Mission League is one of the best leagues in the country.

The 2025 high school baseball season is underway, although wet and cold weather has forced several postponements and cancellations, per usual. The Greater Akron baseball scene features several talented teams and a host of skilled players once again. Twinsburg made a run in the Division I tournament last season and finished as a state runner-up.
