Former Cleveland Browns player and Hall of Famer Joe Thomas spoke at the Greater Akron-Canton High School Sports Awards show. Attendees were impressed by Thomas' humility and genuine interactions. The Copley offensive tackle went on an official visit to the University of Minnesota June 13-15 and committed after that. He chose the Golden Gophers over Northwestern and 24 other Division I programs. Minnesota coach P.J. Greater Akron/Canton softball stars lined the first-team All-Ohio squads when the state’s high school association announced its honorees for the 2025 season. GlenOak’s Ryleigh Hall was first team All-Ohio in Division I and Walsh Jesuit’s Ella Girard picked up the honor in Division II. Division III was the most represented with the Aurora tandem of Sophie Retton and Lailah Bohanan joining Lake’s Olivia Brown and Revere’s Paige Kelley on the first team.
