Sam Bourqin will host a new sports talk show 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays on 1310 AM WDPN in Alliance. In addition to sports, Bourquin also will discuss local news, pop culture and other topics. Bourquin is a veteran of the Akron-Canton radio scene, including past work at ESPN 990 in Massillon, 1480 WHBC in Canton and 1590 WAKR in Akron.

Tim Carmany, owner of The Hub Art Factory in downtown Canton, is opening Second April Studios. Second April Studios will be in the former Patina Arts Centre space at 324 Cleveland Ave. NW. A grand opening is set for 5-10 p.m. May 2 during Canton First Friday. CANTON − Tim Carmany opened the door to a darkened art gallery space downtown. Just a few weeks ago, the building was home to Patina Arts Centre before closing. Carmany, owner of The Hub Art Factory, wove his way through nooks of creativity.

Canton Museum of Art will open its spring exhibitions April 29, featuring the eco-art of John Sabraw and "Art & Activism."Sabraw's work focuses on the Earth's ecosystem while "Art & Activism: Perspectives from the CMA Collection" showcases diverse artists spanning 100 years. Another exhibition will be "This Riverbed is a Cradle," featuring the sculptural fiber art of Michelle Wentling.

The Corduroy Cat is among the stores in the Akron-Canton area that deal in vintage clothing and retro fashion. The Corduroy Cat opened at its new location in October in downtown Hartville. Sales figures show that secondhand fashion and thrift clothing is a fast growing business sector. HARTVILLE − Nevaeh Allman and Issac Davis browsed the racks at The Corduroy Cat, flipping through vintage shirts and jeans in search of styles. Pop culture paradise surrounded the teenagers.

CANTON − The Stark County Fair will crank up the rock music when Theory of a Deadman performs on Aug. 27. Recent years have seen classic rock acts Styx and Night Ranger take the stage to enthusiastic fans. Theory of a Deadman will bring a post-grunge and alt-rock sound to the fairgrounds. The band charted No. 1 songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart for "Bad Girlfriend" (2008), "Lowlife" (2011), "Rx (Medicate)" (2017) and "History of Violence" (2020).
