NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nashville’s Metro Emergency Alert & Notification System (MEANS) forwarded 111 weather warnings from the National Weather Service during severe storms between April 3-6. The MEANS system was launched in 2019 as a way for city officials to send emergency alerts to citizens via phone calls and/or texts. It can be used for severe weather related alerts or in other potentially dangerous situations like an active shooter threat.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Nashville Office of Emergency Management is preparing for another round of severe weather after a busy 24 hours. The Metro Nashville Department of Emergency Communications processed more than 1,700 calls for service during severe storms in the area, 79 of which were for flooding, water rescue situations and rescue and evacuation operations. 112 calls involved reports of lines down, hazards, and or debris blocking roads.
