Senator Jeff Merkley criticized the budget resolution that passed the House on Tuesday without any Democrats voting in favor. That budget called for two-trillion dollars in spending cuts - nearly half of that addressing healthcare, including Medicaid, which about a fifth of all Americans use.

EUGENE, Ore. — Congresswoman Val Hoyle voted in favor of the Fix Our Forests Act, a bill that primarily addresses wildfire mitigation and prevention. The legislation, which passed the House last week and now heads to the Senate, includes funding for forest management and addresses particularly at-risk communities that are perennially threatened by wildfire. Some environmental groups oppose the legislation for its impact on old-growth forests and certain endangered species.
