On the evening of August 20, 2023, Emma Grace Turnipseed (née Cline), tried to call her beloved mother as she left Tuscaloosa, Ala. to return home from a visit with her youngest daughter, Mara Eva Cline. The call to Donna Milligan Cline went directly to voicemail. Turnipseed thought she’d call again in 30 minutes as her mother could’ve been missing Mara Eva after sending her to college for the first time. The time passed, and Turnipseed made four more calls. No response.

KJ Bolden held a commitment to Florida State for over four months. All the while, as a senior at Buford, he’d appear at Tom Riden Stadium on Friday nights in a pair of Bulldog gloves. A small piece of garb served as a sign. Bolden had his options open. His hometown Georgia Bulldogs were prominently in the race. Bolden, in his last round of campus visits, took a trip to Tallahassee, Fla. on Dec. 15, 2023.

Georgia lost one of its prized quarterback commitments for the 2024 recruiting class Monday as five-star prospect Dylan Raiola flipped his pledge to Nebraska. Raiola, who transferred to Buford (Ga.) High School to be closer to Athens and the Bulldog program, had a change of heart with the early signing period nearing on Dec. 20. Raiola has family ties to Nebraska and could have an opportunity to start as a freshman under head coach Matt Rhule, entering his second season with the Cornhuskers.

Georgia’s football team is retaining its key piece under center as quarterback Carson Beck announced he will return for his senior season Monday. Beck, a former four-star quarterback out of Jacksonville, Fla., started all 13 games for the Bulldogs in his first season as the main signal caller. Beck threw for 3,738 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions in Georgia’s 12-1 campaign.
