Campton Hills stands to receive $9.45 million in permit fees from a proposed annexation of 962 acres with 900 homes, according to a draft annexation agreement. The charge to Geneva-based developer Shodeen Group is $10,500 per dwelling unit to a maximum of 900, of which 700 are to be single-family homes, according to the agreement.

GENEVA – Refuse stickers in Geneva will rise 19 cents to $4.32 on July 1, from the current rate of $4.13, as per the city’s five-year contract with waste hauler Lakeshore Recycling Systems, or LRS, officials said in a news release. The contract began July 1, 2023, and ends June 30, 2028. Residents who have stickers for the current rate can use them without paying the difference.

GENEVA – Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s 75th annual Swedish Days festival opened Wednesday to overcast skies that threatened – then provided – rain. It started with a light sprinkling – a wet dibble-dop that seemed to bother no one – followed by a rolling rumble of thunder that meant business. Then it poured, slowing some customer traffic for the food vendors, such as Jeff Woods, owner of Chianti’s Carryout & Catering. “We’ve been at Swedish Days since 1985,” Woods said.

Authorities around the state will participate in for a traffic enforcement around the Fourth of July holiday, with a focus on impaired and unbuckled drivers. The safety campaign will run from June 20 through July 7, covering three summer weekends leading up to and after Independence Day. Illinois State Police will join more than 200 local police and sheriff’s departments for a statewide effort, according to a news release from the Kane County sheriff’s office.
