GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — J.H. Rose’s girls lacrosse team was trying to go to its first ever state championship Wednesday night, May 28, 2025. The Rampants hosted Union Pines in the Eastern Regional Final. Rose came into the game 17-2 on the season but fell to the 12-6 Vikings 14-11. Union Pines moves on to the 1A/2A/3A state championship while Rose’s season ends at 17-3.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — ECU’s baseball team pulled off a victorious run in the American Athletic Conference Tournament by beating Tulane and claiming the championship. That feat earned them a berth in the NCAA Tournament and the Pirates were sent to the Conway Regional along with host team Coastal Carolina, Florida and Fairfield. ECU takes on Florida first Friday as Ethan Norby will toe the mound for the Pirates and Liam Peterson will pitch for the Gators.

Rose is back in the state title series in 3A as the Rampants are taking on North Lincoln in a best-of-three series beginning Friday. The Rampants were able to get outside Wednesday as the sun finally came out this week. In high school football, the saying goes that you know you’ve had a good season when you practice on Thanksgiving.

Starting Friday, the Vikings take on South Caldwell in a best-of-three series. Head Coach Wayne Deans and his team worked out inside Wednesday, May 28, 2025 due to weather. GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Former D.H. Conley and ECU soccer star Maive English signed her first professional contract to play in Greece. English started more games than anyone in ECU history and had 294 saves with 30 shutouts in her career. She was the 25th goalkeepers in NCAA history to play more than 8,000 career minutes. English also led ECU to the school’s first-ever American Athletic Conference championship. She will play for Rea FC in the Greek Divison’s A Side.
