Lew Oliver, who moved to Clarkesville from the Atlanta area in 2021, has purchased a pair of buildings at 1378 and 1386 Washington Street, next to the Habersham Community Theater, to serve as the new location for his office. He plans to relocate there from his current space near The Hush at 1484 Washington Street.

A Cornelia man has been charged in connection with a reported sexual assault that allegedly occurred in late April. According to the Cornelia Police Department, authorities responded on April 27 to a residence on Chattahoochee Street in reference to a sexual assault that had allegedly already taken place. Upon arrival, officers interviewed the mother of the alleged victim, stating her daughter had been raped.

Habersham County will continue its summer food program through 2025 to ensure local students have access to nutritious meals during the summer months. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the program served over 60,000 students last year. In collaboration with Food 4 Kids and Volunteers for Literacy, the program will operate from June 2 through July 17, distributing meals Monday through Thursday at various locations across the county.
