McAllen First United Methodist Church providing items to McAllen ISD’s Clothing ClosetThe McAllen First United Methodist Church is helping McAllen ISD provide the tools of success to students. The tools are in the form of donated clothing and personal hygiene products for students in need that go directly to the McAllen ISD’s Clothing Closet. The church's mission and outreach coordinator, Susan Hellums, said she’s taken on many projects to help collect and distribute donations.

New this year is the Citrus Sip-Off: A People’s Choice Cocktail Competition. Ticket holders will be able to taste citrus-inspired cocktails crafted by local mixologists. They will then vote on their favorites to name the signature cocktail of the annual Citrus Royal Ball set for Saturday, Jan. 25. The sip-off is set for Friday, Jan.

Located in the library’s teen section, the shelf is stocked with personal care items that teens can take, with no questions asked. Middle schooler Delilah Mondragon picked up supplies on Tuesday as she prepared to head back to school from winter break. Mondragon said she knows the holidays can be rough for some families, and the shelf can help.

The shelf is an area where teens can grab free personal care items that are donated by the community. The library said there’s a big need for warm clothes.
