HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) – A man who is a registered sex offender is wanted by McAllen police. According to a McAllen Police Department news release, Adrian Antonio Duron is accused of engaging in sexual contact with a child younger than 17. Police were called to a home on the 300 block of East Upas late Friday night to investigate the claims against Duron. A magistrate issued an arrest warrant for Duron on charges of indecency with a child, a second degree felony.

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) – The Special Olympics needs a lot of volunteers to hold events like the 2025 Spring Games being held at the Richard R. Flores Stadium in Edinburg through Friday. Nationwide there are more than 40,000 people who give of their time to help children and adults with intellectual disabilities. If you’d like to become one of the volunteers its easy as long as you’re at least 15 years old.

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The city of Harlingen received anywhere from 18 to 20 inches of rain in Thursday’s catastrophic storm. Officials say many streets in the city are flooded, including parts of downtown and Tyler Street. On the city’s west side, Stuart Place Road is heavily underwater. It took some residents more than half an hour to travel from the expressway to Wilson Road. There are several water rescues taking place in that section of town.

RIO HONDO, Texas (ValleyCentral) – Nearly all of the city of Rio Hondo is underwater after the massive rain storms that hit the Rio Grande Valley on Thursday. City administrator Ben Medina said Colorado Street, which is the main street through town, is underwater from the middle of the city all the way to State Highway 345, also known as Sam Houston Boulevard. That state highway is also flooded for several miles from Rio Hondo to Cemetery Road, which is about four miles east.

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) – A train that blocked several Harlingen streets for hours has been moved and traffic is flowing. Harlingen police say the train blocked traffic on Business 77 near the Harlingen CISD administration building as well as 21st and 25th streets. The tracks run along Bonham Elementary and Bonham Park. Officials work to clear a stalled train that blocked Business 77 and several other streets in Harlingen on Friday morning.

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) – As motorists wake up Friday morning they may be shocked to see hundreds and hundreds of cars stranded on the expressway, frontage roads and neighborhoods all across the Rio Grande Valley. Thursday’s storms left drivers with the inability to get home or to work safely. Many had to leave their stalled cars in store parking lots, businesses and other roads. Others spent the night in their vehicles waiting for the flood waters to recede.
