BOCA CHICA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Federal Aviation Administration announced on Tuesday that SpaceX will be allowed to increase the number of Starship rocket launches from Boca Chica Beach. The FAA said SpaceX’s proposal to increase the number of times Starship will launch from the Valley from five to 25 will not pose a major impact to the environment.
Driver, 19, killed in Edinburg rollover

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) – A teenager was killed early Saturday morning when the SUV she was driving rolled over several times in Edinburg. Police say 19-year-old Diedra Lynch Arroyo was ejected from the white 2009 GMC Yukon that crashed near the intersection of Owassa Road and the southbound I-69 frontage road. Arroyo was taken to a local hospital where she later died.

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) – The front that moved through the Rio Grande Valley overnight brought with it lots of lightning, winds and some hail. As the storm moved from west to east across Hidalgo County, residents in Edinburg, Pharr and San Juan reported hail in varying sizes from a nickel to a quarter in width. There was significant lightning in the area as well and heavy downpours. More rain is expected Saturday afternoon.
McAllen police looking for registered sex offender

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) – A man who is a registered sex offender is wanted by McAllen police. According to a McAllen Police Department news release, Adrian Antonio Duron is accused of engaging in sexual contact with a child younger than 17. Police were called to a home on the 300 block of East Upas late Friday night to investigate the claims against Duron. A magistrate issued an arrest warrant for Duron on charges of indecency with a child, a second degree felony.

Nationwide there are more than 40,000 people who give of their time to help children and adults with intellectual disabilities. HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The city of Harlingen received anywhere from 18 to 20 inches of rain in Thursday’s catastrophic storm. Officials say many streets in the city are flooded, including parts of downtown and Tyler Street. On the city’s west side, Stuart Place Road is heavily underwater. It took some residents more than half an hour to travel from the expressway to Wilson Road. There are several water rescues taking place in that section of town.
