The Navarre community has been counting down the days until Florida's first Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream location opens at 2502 State Road 87 South. Restaurant owners took to social media this week to announce their grand opening will be on April 28. The following weekend, they plan to hold a grand opening party with bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo, and more.

Construction is now underway on Pensacola’s West Garden Street, and local businesses along the route are concerned about what the detours and roadwork will cost them. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began work on April 1 by reducing the number of traffic lanes from four to two on the stretch from Pace Boulevard to North Donelson Street in downtown Pensacola.

As “Hands Off” demonstrations erupted nationwide Saturday in opposition to President Donald Trump’s administration, somewhere close to 1,000 protestors gathered in Pensacola at Graffiti Bridge Saturday afternoon, eager to have their voices heard. Heading into the "Hands Off" protests, they were expected to be the largest and most numerous since Trump's second term began. Nationwide, more than 500,000 people RSVP'd to attend one of 1,000 rallies, marches, or protests organized by grassroots groups.

Florida's restaurant owners are not required to post restaurant inspection results where guests can see them. So, every week, we provide that information for you. During the latest round of inspections from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, one restaurant temporarily closed and 22 restaurants passed their first inspection with zero violations.
