Two people have been struck by a car and killed on a major highway not long after parking their own vehicle in an emergency lane and getting out. The 31-year-old woman and 21-year-old man suffered critical injuries and died at the scene on Forrest Highway in South Yunderup, near Mandurah south of Perth. The pair had stopped their white MG sedan in the southbound emergency lane just south of Pinjarra Rd about 6.20pm on Sunday.

Doctors were forced to amputate the leg of a concrete plant worker after he was crushed by a two-tonne gate during an horrific workplace accident. Ransberg Pty Ltd — which trades as WA Premix — was fined $580,000 in the Joondalup Magistrates Court last week after pleading guilty to causing the worker serious harm through a failure to provide a safe workplace. The shocking incident happened at a concrete batching plant in Neerabup, in Perth’s north, in December 2020.
