HUNTSVILLE — Work continues on developing a bicycling plan for the Huntsville area as the city extended its contract with Alta Planning + Design. The extension restates the end date as Sept. 30, the city said in a news release. The city and Alta have worked together since December 2023 on constructing an enhanced bicycling plan for the Huntsville area as part of the Huntsville Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Projects at two North Alabama airports will soon take off, thanks to grants from the Federal Aviation Administration. U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt announced Wednesday that Cullman and Albertville regional airports have received more than $1.9 million in federal Airport Infrastructure Grants to support critical infrastructure improvements. Cullman Regional Airport – Folsom Field was awarded $1,011,708, and Albertville Regional Airport – Thomas J. Brumlik Field received $939,038.
