Filming for director JJ Abrams’ latest epic fantasy Ghostwriter officially began in London back in April, but now the spotlight is on Glasgow – thought to be doubling up as a futuristic New York for the film. Roads across the city are being closed until June 23 as the cameras roll, on scenes set to transform our streets into movie magic.

Hollywood star Glen Powell has been spotted filming a bus stunt scene in Glasgow as shooting for JJ Abrams’ latest blockbuster continues across the city. The Twisters star was seen jumping and landing on the ground as he chased a girl in orange while filming for the epic American fantasy titled Ghostwriter. Filming started in Glasgow on Saturday after principal photography began in London on April 26. The crew previously filmed scenes in Edinburgh.

Four men at the centre of a massive corruption and bribery plot have been jailed for a total of 29 years following an investigation at health boards across Scotland. The men include two directors of the Ayrshire-based telecoms firm Oricom Ltd, and two senior NHS officials who helped them secure over £6m in contracts, in return for gifts and cash. The judge described their crimes as “self serving, arrogant, and mendacious”.

Care staff who say they’re at “breaking point” have gone on strike in an ongoing dispute over pay. The industrial action was started by Enable Scotland workers based in East Renfrewshire this morning, marking the first national care walkout in over a decade. Further regions will be hit by disruption in the days to come.
