A special musical presentation of North Platte’s WWII Canteen era was part of the Heritage Festival on Saturday-Sunday, June 14-15, in addition to how the first Fort McPherson soldiers did their laundry. The Heritage Festival is held each year at the Lincoln County Historical Museum in North Platte. Jody Ingalls, a historical story-teller and performing artist, took listeners on a sentimental journey that portrayed the tragedy, bravery and challenges of WWII.

All of the immigrants who arrived at the Lincoln County jail on Thursday were booked, processed and placed, as of early Monday morning, Sheriff Jerome Kramer told the Lincoln County commissioners. Kramer said 64 immigrants were interviewed, with the help of interpreters from the Hope Esperanza organization of North Platte. Six attorneys were at the jail by Friday to review individual cases. Some of the arrivals might be reunited with their families and employers soon.

More than a dozen multi-million-dollar construction projects are underway in North Platte, as the city’s biggest construction boom in more than 20 years continues. The pace and scope of construction seems dizzying after decades of relatively stagnant growth.
