    A special musical presentation of North Platte’s WWII Canteen era was part of the Heritage Festival on Saturday-Sunday, June 14-15, in addition to how the first Fort McPherson soldiers did their laundry. The Heritage Festival is held each year at the Lincoln County Historical Museum in North Platte. Jody Ingalls, a historical story-teller and performing artist, took listeners on a sentimental journey that portrayed the tragedy, bravery and challenges of WWII.

    All of the immigrants who arrived at the Lincoln County jail on Thursday were booked, processed and placed, as of early Monday morning, Sheriff Jerome Kramer told the Lincoln County commissioners. Kramer said 64 immigrants were interviewed, with the help of interpreters from the Hope Esperanza organization of North Platte. Six attorneys were at the jail by Friday to review individual cases. Some of the arrivals might be reunited with their families and employers soon.

    Nebraska bareback riders among contestants for the weekendNorth Platte, Neb. –June 16, 2025 – When Tanner Drueke was a little boy, he rummaged through his dad’s old rodeo gear bag, finding the remnants of Bart Drueke’s bull riding career. It was just more fuel for the Sutherland man’s love of rodeo. Drueke, age 21, is now competing professionally in the PRCA and will ride at the Buffalo Bill Rodeo in North Platte on June 20.

The pace and scope of construction seems dizzying after decades of relatively stagnant growth.     Rodeo fans at the Buffalo Bill Rodeo in North Platte will be delighted with the antics of Snoopy, the Paint horse owned by rodeo clown John Harrison of Soper, Okla. But Snoopy had to find his niche in life and learn his role as a trick horse before he could rodeo with John. In the act, Snoopy does tricks like laying down, walking on his back legs and liberty work, all while playing along with John that John is getting the horse out of the arena so the rodeo can go on.
