    GARRETT, Ind. (WFFT) — A Common Councilman, his wife and son were arrested for allegedly stealing from a local coffee shop. A probable cause affidavit states that Bobby (66), Julie (62) and Ryan Diederich (37) stole from The Grind Coffee House to benefit their new coffee business in Garrett. Reports provide that Ryan’s ex-wife Kayla Wegman owns The Grind. According to a detective from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Wegman reported thefts from her business to Garrett police in July 2024.

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Fort Wayne’s Parks and Recreation Department will soon welcome golfers back to Foster, Shoaff and McMillen parks. Golf courses open for the 2025 season on March 22 at 10 a.m., weather permitting. After that, tee off is at 10 a.m. each day until at least the end of the month. Cart conditions for the courses and the driving ranges at Shoaff and McMillen will be determined on a day-to-day basis. Work by City Utilities crews will change the season for some golfers.

Presented by the Indiana Department of Health, the award recognizes a local health department and community stakeholder team who make strides in advancing community health.

    AUBURN, Ind. (WFFT) — A DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy is facing a felony charge for allegedly assaulting a woman. Court documents state that a woman told another sheriff’s deputy that Zachary Kerley raped her in early September at an Auburn hotel. Reports state the deputy later told his superior which launched an investigation. Indiana State Police detectives say the woman recalled meeting Kerley in late August at a Garrett restaurant.
