ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT) - Court documents say an Allen County man threatened to kill more than a hundred attendees at Central Ministries' Living Nativity event Saturday night. Police say Tyler Leavitt, 40, pulled up to the event at the church's main campus on Schwartz Road just after 9 p.m. Saturday, a few minutes after the event formally ended.

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT) - Two people are dead after a head-on crash in rural Kosciusko County, the Sheriff's Office says. Sheriff's deputies say the two-car crash happened at 8:49 p.m. on Thanksgiving on Old Road 30, west of Brallier Road. Deputies say Manuel Apolinar Tlahuetl, 24, of Warsaw, and Heather M. Rice, 54, of Columbia City, died on scene after crashing head-on. Deputies say they don't know what caused the crash.

FINDLAY, Ohio (WFFT) - Police wrote hundreds of citations after a slew of traffic stops as part of the 13th annual "Lights for Lives" campaign. The campaign ran from 6 p.m. on November 25th to 6 a.m. on November 27th, the day before Thanksgiving. Local law enforcement from Williams, Fulton, Lucas, Defiance, Henry, Wood, Putnam, Paulding, Hancock, Van Wert, Allen, and Hardin Counties teamed up with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to increase traffic stops and citations for traffic violations.
Woman hurt after hitting deer in rural DeKalb County

By By: Jacob Newlin DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT) - A Kendallville woman was hurt after hitting a deer with her car Friday morning, according to a release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies say the woman was driving eastbound on State Road 8 northwest of Garrett around 2:40 a.m. Deputies say a deer entered the road in front of her car, causing the crash. She was taken to a hospital with arm, leg, and abdominal injuries.
FWFD welcomes 29 new firefighters from 96th recruit class

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The Fort Wayne Fire Department welcomed the graduates of the 96th recruit class during a ceremony Thursday night. 29 new firefighters joined the FWFD after graduating from the 23-week training program. They're now continuing to train alongside firefighters at the city's 18 fire stations. The city says 38% of the 96th recruit class are from underrepresented groups. That includes one Black man, five Hispanic men, three multiracial men, and two women.
Coroner unable to ascertain cause, manner of death for man found dead off I-469

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT) - The Allen County Coroner says his office cannot determine the cause or manner of death for Cody Michael Rose. Rose's remains were found off the side of I-469 near the Winchester Road exit on March 11th. He was identified using dental records, but his cause and manner of death were considered pending until this Tuesday morning. Rose's remains were spotted on satellite imagery for approximately two years before they were found by a crew working in the area.
New Haven Casino renderings released by Full House Resorts

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WFFT) - Full House Resorts released renderings of its proposed casino in New Haven on Tuesday morning. Full House also launched a website called "All In On New Haven" to detail the project and collect the names of project supporters. The $500 million casino campus is planned for a 90-acre site near U.S. 30 and I-469. Full house moved its plans two miles south of its originally planned site over concerns from nearby residents.
Railroad crossing death on Airport Expressway prompts police investigation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating after a person was found dead Friday morning along the railroad tracks on Airport Expressway on Fort Wayne's southwest side. According to FWPD Sergeant John Nichter, the investigation began at 3:50 a.m. Friday. He says the death involved a train, but is not considered suspicious. Airport Expressway was closed between Bluffton Road and Airport Drive for hours as FWPD and Norfolk Southern Police investigated on-scene.
Gov. Holcomb orders flags lowered in honor of Sgt. Sarah Roque

INDIANAPOLIS (WFFT) — Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is directing all flags in Noble County to be flown at half-staff on Saturday in honor and remembrance of U.S. Army Sergeant Sarah Roque. A funeral mass for Roque will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ligonier. According to an obituary from Yeager Funeral Home, Roque was born in Lubbock, Texas, and moved to Ligonier with her family. She graduated from West Noble High School in 2020.
11 jurors seated so far for Delphi murder trial

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - 11 jurors have been seated so far for the murder trial of Richard Allen during the first three rounds of jury selection on Monday. Allen was arrested in October 2022, more than five years after Libby German and Abby Williams were found dead near the Monon High Bridge in Carroll County. Allen is charged with two counts of murder for the girls' deaths. Allen also faces two counts of felony murder, which is killing someone while committing a felony.
