    THE Bog Trotters festival in Clara was a massive success over last weekend June 19 to 22. The festival which celebrates the unique Clara Bog and Summer Solstice was packed with all sorts of activities.     Motorists in the Park Avenue area of Tullamore are facing confusion due to contradictory speed limit signs posted within a short stretch of road. As drivers turn off Convent View into the Tyrell's Road/Park Avenue area, they are met with a 30 km/h speed limit sign. However, the reverse side of this same sign displays a 50 km/h limit just as drivers enter Convent View. To add to the inconsistency, another 50 km/h sign is located on Park Avenue itself though partially obscured and barely visible.

    An unannounced inspection by HIQA of the Midland's Regional Hospital in Tullamore, revealed a high number of vacancies for key positions within the hospital. Across the facility there were nine vacant consultant posts recognised as a risk on the hospital’s risk register. The pharmacy department had a number of vacant posts covered by agency staff and this risk was on the hospital’s risk register. Inspectors also found the peri-operative directorate had no clinical director.

    TULLAMORE Tidy Towns Association is seeking permission to paint a mural on the side/gable wall of an existing dwelling in Tullamore. The building is located at Bury Quay. Chair of the association Councillor Shane Murray says ''we painted the wall last year, but with the work on the bridge complete it's looking a bit tired again.
