CLEVELAND, Ohio — As spotted lanternfly eggs prepare to hatch, the Cleveland Metroparks is unleashing a new set of weapons in the battle of the bugs. Four dogs have been trained to recognize the scent of spotted lanternfly egg masses. Gail Samko and her dog Rio are on the team. She says Rio, a rescue, has some anxiety around people, but when he's headed to the park to work, he's all business. "When he gets these leashes on, or his harness, he knows he's working," Samko said. "He gets very antsy.
