WKYC-TV (Cleveland, OH)

WKYC Channel 3 boasts a long and storied history in broadcasting. We originally launched as WNBK on October 31, 1948, as an NBC affiliate, and we've maintained that relationship with NBC ever since. Our station has a reputation for quality local programming, featuring hits like "Barnaby," which remains the highest-rated locally produced show, and "The Mike Douglas Show," which achieved national syndication. Throughout our history, we've been pioneers in Northeast Ohio broadcasting, being the first to air in color, the first to use stereo sound, the first to introduce closed captioning for viewers with hearing impairments, and the first to provide a digital broadcast signal. Our news teams have received numerous regional Emmy awards along with various local and national accolades for their exceptional reporting and commitment to community service. In November 1995, WKYC was acquired by Gannett, Co. Inc., which later separated its publishing and broadcasting divisions, making Channel 3 a part of TEGNA Media, one of the most extensive and diverse broadcasting companies in the country.
