A Grade II listed hotel and health club could be transformed into flats. The owner of Fieldways Hotel and Health Club, on Hilperton Road in Trowbridge, wants to convert the Edwardian mansion into 15 apartments. A planning application for the project was previously submitted in 2022 but later withdrawn. The owner of the building, located just off the A361, has re-submitted plans to Wiltshire Council. The 13-bedroom, family-run hotel went up for sale in 2018 for offers of more than £1.2m.

The life of one of Swindon’s heavy metal stars will be celebrated later this year with a one-day festival. Steve Grimmett, the producer, songwriter and lead singer of heavy metal band Grim Reaper, will be remembered at Swindon’s MECA in November. Grimmett sold millions of albums across the world and his career included studio albums, single releases and MTV airplay.

Hundreds of people have gathered at a popular park estate to protest against a new charging system. Local people will have to pay a £10 deposit to use Cirencester Park in Gloucestershire and non-residents will be charged £30 annually. The move is the first time in 326 years an entry pass has been introduced for the Grade I park in the Cotswolds. Lord Bathurst, who owns the historic 3,000 acre park, said the money would fund maintenance works.
