VATICAN CITY, Italy (WCTV) - White smoke poured from the Sistine Chapel chimney Thursday afternoon, signaling a new pope has been elected. And the new pope is making history in a new way. Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected the first American pope, and he will be called Pope Leo XIV, according to CBS News. He is from Chicago. The white smoke first appeared at about 12:08 p.m. The news comes just over 24 hours after the doors to the chapel closed for the conclave to begin the voting process.

The sold-out crowd against Stetson University bathed the stadium in garnet and gold, with many holding signs in tribute to the first responders.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Days after a deadly shooting at Florida State University, the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity is cooking up a way to give back to a community still reeling from tragedy. The 242-member fraternity is offering free BBQ to students and first responders ahead of Tuesday afternoon’s FSU baseball game—the first athletic event since the shooting. 100 percent of the proceeds from the fraternity’s event is going to families of victims and those injured in Thursday’s shooting.
