Three men have been arrested after a fail to stop collision in Liversedge which left a 16-year-old boy seriously injured. The incident happened on Peep Green Road in Hartshead between 9.05pm and 9.13pm on Friday, May 2. The three men, aged 30, have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The 16-year-old boy was riding an electrically assisted bicycle when he was involved in a collision with at least one vehicle that left the scene.

A pub in Arnside has been urged by animal rights group PETA to change its name. The pub, owned by Thwaites, has also been asked to stop offering chicken on its menu. The animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wrote to the Ye Olde Fighting Cocks pub and hotel in Arnside on Tuesday, asking it to stop offering chicken and to change its name to Ye Olde Clever Cocks.

Colson Smith, who has played police officer Craig Tinker on ITV’s Coronation Street since 2011, has left the soap after his final episode aired on Wednesday (May 21). The character died in hospital following a head injury sustained while on duty. Colson, who attended Castleford High School and has been involved with Castleford Cricket Club, has worked on the Coronation Street set since he was a teenager, and leaves after 14 years.
