But the good news is that it's now been taken over by The Good Egg and is getting ready to reopen. If you've had the pleasure of eating at The Good Egg before, you'll know that, as the name suggests, they go big on brunch.

What do we need to know about Mr Porter? This new steakhouse is the first of two big restaurant openings this year at the Hilton on Park Lane. The other is the rooftop restaurant, which gets its reveal next month. This comes from the Entourage Group who also have Mr Porters in Amsterdam, Barcelona and Ibiza. They bill it as a modern steakhouse meets cocktail lounge, and the room is pretty evenly split between the space given to the bar and the restaurant. Where exactly is it?

As far as we're concerned, there's always room for more places to sit and recover from a massive shopping expedition when you're on Oxford Street. So the arrival of Noreen to St Christopher's Place this summer can only be a positive thing. An eagle-eyed Hot Dinners reader got in touch this week, pointing out that changes seemed to be afoot on St John Street. On closer inspection, it looked as though someone was moving into the old The Gate site on St John Street. Well, we did some digging and it turns out to be the new home of popular Islington sushi restaurant SASA. As owner Mark Tan-Pham explained to us, the move wasn't planned, but they're delighted not to have to relocate somewhere too far from their original restaurant.

Tokyo-born mixologist Gento Torigata travelled across the globe working in bars from Ginza to Sydney and Singapore before landing in the UK. Most recently he was bar manager at the fabulous Kwãnt in Mayfair for the past two years. Now he's branching out on his own, opening up Waltz on Scrutton Street. The bar and its drinks list takes inspiration from both jazz and nature. There's a general menu of drinks available along with a special cocktail list that's only served up to those at the 12-seat bar.

Peckham is getting an all-day, new school Vietnamese cafe which morphs into a canteen come cocktail bar in the evenings. Let us elaborate on that. By day Lai Rai will serve up sweet Vietnamese coffees and loaded bánh mì (their vegan one with vegan cold cuts, sautéed mushrooms and whipped tofu pate sounds definitely worth a try). In the evening things ramp up a notch with dinners starting with snacks and beer and progressing to larger dishes alongside Vietnamese-accented cocktails.
