DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Houston County Jury has convicted a man accused of shooting his wife’s alleged lover after finding the two together. Brent Guilford was found guilty of one count of capital murder on Wednesday. According to police, in November 2022, Guilford found his wife with Lashawn Poke in a house and things escalated between Guilford and Poke, before Guilford shot him.

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – The White House says the U.S. is making progress on ending the war in Ukraine after President Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Wednesday. However, the conflict is still ongoing. Late Tuesday, patients evacuated a Ukrainian hospital after Russian strikes. “Attacks like these are precisely why President Trump is committed to peace. It is time for the death and destruction to stop,” State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said.

DOTHAN, ALA. (WDHN)– A cold front moved through the Wiregrass early Thanksgiving morning, bringing light showers. The front has now cleared the area, and cold arctic air is expected to move in from the north over the next few days. For tonight, mainly cloudy skies are expected, and there may be a few light showers around the Wiregrass. After a chance of light rain on Friday morning, skies are expected to clear out during the afternoon, with highs in the upper 50s.

A storm system is expected to move through the Wiregrass on Thursday, bringing a chance of showers and the coldest air of the season so far. Thursday morning is expected to start dry but mostly cloudy with patchy dense fog in spots. As we approach the mid-morning hours, a cold front will arrive from the northwest, and a narrow band of showers is expected to develop. As these showers move through the Wiregrass, some gusty winds may accompany them. At this time, the threat of severe weather is low.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Families trying to enjoy Thanksgiving in the Wiregrass could be interrupted by possible storms throughout the day. A powerful cold front moving into the Wiregrass on Thanksgiving day is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms to the Wiregrass. Some thunderstorms could become severe, but it is unknown if there will be enough instability in the area. As of Tuesday evening, the storm prediction center has the Wiregrass in a 1 out of 5 for severe weather.

If it wasn’t so upsetting it would be almost laughable that the same people who are calling for the NWS to be gutted are the ones who want them held “accountable” for being understaffed during a tornado outbreak. 😅
